Description

Released for Air Max Day in May 2018 this Sean Wotherspoon designed collaboration with Nike won the ‘Vote Forward' Campaign by Nike, which encouraging twelve ‘RevolutionAirs' to attempt to reimagine a classic Nike Air Max style. The Air Max 1/97 x Sean Wotherspoon was the worthy winner, a new combination of an Air Max 97 upper and Air Max 1 Sole are woven together perfectly into a true hybrid for 2018. The shoe sports a retro-inspired multi-coloured corduroy upper which follows the wavy lines of a traditional 97, but with an added element of texture coming from the material being fashioned here, which contrasts interestingly with the chunky Air Max 1 midsole. This creates a silhouette for the shoe which although has been forged from the DNA of already noted creations is something we are seeing for the first time as a hybrid concept, like the first time you heard a Liger was more than just a fantasy creature. The future of Air Max looks bright, and with the Air Max 1/97 x Sean Wotherspoon being released, it shows the world that there is plenty more room for invention in an already stacked portfolio. This release should serve as an inspiration to follow for all future Revolutionaries in the shoe game.
