Nike has a history of working with the stop-motion animation studio, Laika, over the years to craft trainers inspired by its motion pictures. The link, pardon the pun, comes from Phil Knights son Travis and his involvement as CEO at Laika, and released in April 2019 The Laika x Air Max Susan 'Missing Link' looks to capture everyone's imagination with a fun take on the studios new 'Missing Link' film. Using the classic Air Max 1 as a base, the silhouette is dressed in green and plaid overlays that match the featured creature’s suit and tux to a T, while a leather-wrapped midsole and leather “cuff links” in the top two eyelets add an intentionally slapdash touch of style. The shoes name a reference to one of the open scenes of the film is playfully used, with the usual Air Max embellishment crossed out and replaced with Air Susan. This shoe is a lot of fun, and sure to put a smile on the face of anyone who sees it, and everyone who wears it.
